Q: catholic priests????????
are catholic priests allowed to have sex? cause there are many out there do have sex, aren't they suppposed to have their title taken away and kicked out of the church? or does the catholic church turns the other cheek and just let the priests do whatever they want cause they have a shortage of priests, cardinals, archbishops anyway?
A: A priest is always a priest but if they commit sexual acts after a vow of celibacy they are removed from their position of pastor and are no longer supported by the Church. They become like lay members of the Church. god bless!

Q: What happens if its Catholic priests vs catholic bishops?
There are Catholic priests who want to follows the Pope's idea and not their bishop's ideas.
These priests find its a better example of being a true catholic and not abusing the power of the Pope.
A: We are under obligation to follow the magistarium of the church, Bishops, priests and lay people. The pope is the head of our church and the truth of the church are under obligation of obedience to follow him. We also have the right, when we think that someone is not in league with the pope to correct them. not fight over it but correct him. If the pope says something totally off the wall, like if he all of a sudden said that abortion is now accepted because of rape or incest and we know that murder of any kind is not accepted then we should also question this. But, as a whole we are all under obedience to the pope. He is our guide and leader in spiritual matters and he interperts the laws of Jesus Christ. God bless you
Q: How many people have been sexually asaulted by catholic priests?
I'm doing some research on thise, and I need a reliable statistic about how many people (including children) have been raped or sexually assaulted by catholic priests?
Please include your references. Thanks you.
A: Too many. One would be too many.
I don't think it's possible to have a definitive number, because there are so many people who won't come forward, so many people who have already died and can't come forward, and, once there was news of pay-outs, a small number of people who lied about being molested just to get on the gravy train. (Yes, it happens -- even after 9/11, people were lying & saying loved ones were lost in the building just to get $$$ -- some people are just creeps).
Q: Catholic priests are now encouraged to go online?
I just saw a thing on CNN saying that the Catholic church wants to send a "hip" message.
They want their priests to have facebook, myspace, and youtube pages that allow easier access for younger people.
Am I the only one thinking Dateline should increase their predator workforce by about 400% now?
A: That's ridiculous. There are fewer pedophile priests than there are in the general population. You have more to fear from within your own neighborhood, your own FAMILY, than you do from a Catholic priest.
Q: What do catholic priests ask you at wedding consultation?
I'm a little bit nervous about meeting with the priest about our wedding. We are getting married in the Catholic church. Can someone tell me what types of things they are going to talk to us about? I would like to be prepared.
THANKS
BTW, im not talking about the marriage prep course. I'm talking about the private meeting the a priest
A: I really think it depends on the priest. Mostly my priest filled out paperwork and talked to us about the ceremony and general information related to the wedding. It was pretty laid back actually. He didn't talk to us at all about sex or anything like that---trust me I would remember that. :) Others may have different stories but that is how it went with me.
---------------------
Just wanted to add that my priest did not have us do that FOCCUS test. Actually we didn't know what it was until we went to pre cana and someone mentioned it. Nor did he separate us and ask us questions like another answer says. We only had to meet with him once and only did a second time at my request because I had a few questions about the ceremony. My priest is older so I guess he might be lax in his ways compared to others.
Q: Should Catholic priests be allowed to marry?
I think this might reduce the number of child molesting priests, and create a more natural lifestyle for priests. NOTE: I am not catholic.
A: Priests, religious brothers and religious sisters (nuns) ar not allowed to marry following:
+ The practices recommended by founder of christianity Paul of Tarsus, a notorious woman hater and young man lover;
+ Alleged historic examples of church property being lost through marriage.
+++ Historical Steps +++
(590-604) Gregory I introduces celibacy edict to prevent property from passing from church to possible wives, families or mistresses of clergy.
(590 CE) Approximately 6000 babies are found murdered in pond outside Gregory's Lateran palace after celibacy edict is introduced by Gregory I.
(655 CE): In an attempt to persuade priests to remain celibate, the 9th Council of Toledo ruled that all children of clerics were to be automatically enslaved. This ruling was later incorporated into the canon law of the church.
(1089 CE) That the Synod of Melfi under Pope Urban II, also known as Blessed Urban, did order the imposition of slavery on the wives of priests;
(1484-92) That Pope Innocent VIII did deliberately and actively display contempt to the institution of marriage, of all church law, and all Christians by fathering the largest number of illegitimate children of any Pope in the history of the church. That the number of illegitimate children is reputed to have been well over 100 and is why his reign as Supreme Pontiff is known as the "Golden Age of Bastards" in which the funds of the church were severely depleted when he granted those children not murdered with financial support.

+++ Scriptural Examples +++
Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and founded the Nazarenes.
See:
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/nazarenes/nazarenes_0010.htm
There is plenty of examples in the true gospels of Jesus concerning the sancity of marriage, especially for Jesus, his apostles and the Nazarene faith.
Paul of Tarsus on the other hand was a life long lover of young men and hater of women.
+++WWJD? What would Jesus do? +++
Jesus was married, Paul was not. Jesus respected women as equal. Paul loved young men and hated women.
The Apostle Paul is explicit about his celibacy and love for young men(see 1 Cor. 7). There is also evidence in the gospel of Matthew, (a doctored work by Paul of Tarsus himself) for the practice of celibacy among at least some early Christian converts from satanic worship in Syria, in the famous passage about becoming “eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 19:12).
The same practice can be seen in the worship of the Syrian goddess up until at least 150 CE.

If a priest properly follows Jesus, then they should be "married" to their community and not the church.
Some people think that a priest who is devoid of the normal, loving relationship of a family is cut off from their community, leading to greater risk of evil acts-something that is a feature of Catholic history for many centuries.
With love in the real Jesus Christ.
Q: What's going wrong with the Catholic church. Why can't they recruit Priests and Nuns ?
In Thailand, the country I am living in, every year, thousands of young men opt for a life of celibacy and prayer within the Buddhist faith.
Is it because many Catholic priests and nuns wear normal clothes these days, and there is no obvious presence of the faith?
What I mean by clothes is, people don't see a presence of the church like they used to.
In Thailand the monks wear distinctly saffron colored robes that can be seen wherever you go.
I remember when you could see priests and nuns, and you knew that they were there. But now the presence is gone.
Just a theory.
A: Our young people are too influenced by the modern "me first" popular culture and seldom even consider a life of service to others.
We have doubled the number of Catholics per priests in the U.S. in the last 40 years.
Here are the statistics for U.S. Catholics and priests:
1965: 45.6 M Catholics / 58,632 priests = 778 Catholics/priest
1975: 48.7 M Catholics / 58,909 priests = 827 Catholics/priest
1985: 52.3 M Catholics / 57,317 priests = 912 Catholics/priest
1995: 57.4 M Catholics / 49,054 priests = 1,170 Catholics/priest
2005: 64.8 M Catholics / 42,839 priests = 1,513 Catholics/priest
And worldwide:
1975: 709.6 M Catholics / 404,783 priests = 1,557 Catholics/priest
1985: 852.0 M Catholics / 403,480 priests = 2,112 Catholics/priest
1995: 989.4 M Catholics / 404,750 priests = 2,444 Catholics/priest
2005: 1,115.0 M Catholics / 406,411 priests = 2,744 Catholics/priest
The U.S. ratio of Catholics per priest is where the world was in 1975. And the worldwide population of priests is now growing although not yet as fast as the worldwide population of Catholics.
The Holy Spirit will continue to guide the Church through this challenge as He (or She) has done for almost 2,000 years.

Q: If Martin Luther were alive today, do you think he would approve of the idea of married Catholic priests?
I just thought of this question after answering another related inquiry. The idea of Catholic priests remaining unmarried AND celibate dates back hundreds of centuries.
With sex abuse scandals abound, do you think Martin Luther would approve of married priests IF he were alive today? Consider the fact that he disapproved of indulgences, papal offices being sold, kids being elected to papal offices (Pope Leo X was an example of this), etc.
Or would this further his negative opinion of the Catholic Church?
A: We already know he approved of married priests, and he himself married.
Q: How often do Catholic priests preach sermons condemning the Mafia?
I have Catholic friend. She says never. The Church doesn't like birth control or sex education though.
A: I can't say I've ever heard a sermon over the Mafia in my Catholic church...
Q: What was the extent of involvment of Catholic priests in 16th century warfare?
I'm an irish renactor for a renaissance acting group (military). I'm familar with the 12th-14th century practice of exhorting and blessing troops before battle and the occasional defrocked priest entering battle directly, but information on priest's involvment in 16th century warfare seems hard to find. Did they still exhort and bless soldiers? Care for the sick? lend a swordarm against protstant forces? My only source so far for anything about battle practices is a scene of a pair of priests conversing with a soldier of Robert the Bruces. One carries a sword, but I don't know if that's fanciful or not.
A: *Is Catholic*
Great question. As you probably know, priests did a lot of the battlefield clean up and caring for the dying besides blessing the troops before battle. The blessing of forces still goes on today, even in the US Armed Forces.
To have a priest actually fight in the war, that was not looked favorably upon by Rome. I am pretty sure that I once saw something official. There may have been certain instances when priests did take up arms, especially those cases of dire need.
Priests would have known weaponry at that time. If a priest carried a sword, it would have been for self defense.
Since you are interested in Irish stuff, priests and Catholics did a lot of dying during that time of the 16th century. See stuff like the Siege of Drogheda. I am sure that you might have seen priests picking up a sword at a time such as that, but again for last resort defense.
If you are looking for prayers and the like, try Car. Sheen's WARTIME PRAYER BOOK. also look here http://www.wartimeprayerbook.org/

Q: Why are so many Catholic Priests child abusing pedophiles?
I'm really sick of hearing this in the news, it's disgusting! Are they pedophiles, child abusing pedophiles because of the Catholic religion? What kind of religion makes their leaders into child abusers?
It's not a statement so why would I "back-up" a question? I'm ASKING if it is the Catholic religion!
A: In every population of human beings are going to a few sick or evil people who commit horrible crimes, even in the Church.
The percentage of pedophiles in the clergy of the Catholic Church is actually less than that of society in general.
These few terrible people do not negate the faith, hope and love of over one billion Catholics.
Remember that the Church is neither the Church hierarchy nor the priests. The Church is God and His relationship with over one billion living Catholics on Earth and God only knows how many in heaven, all of whom make up the Body of Christ.
Remember that political scandals in nations, even up to and including the highest leaders, like President Nixon and the Watergate scandal, do not make the nation as a whole wrong, immoral, or worthless. And the Catholic Church is so much holier and more important than any nation.
With love in Christ.
Q: Why catholic priests and nuns fail to admit the fact that homosexuality is rampant among them?
Many priest and nuns have come out of this pathetic institution they cannot stand this hypocrisy in the name of god.It is high time someone destroyed the corrupt institution of vatican.
A: 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15 "And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works."
Soon they will be destroyed by God. They are a part of Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion. Revelation 18:4,5 says "And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind."
Q: What percentage of catholic priests do you estimate to be child molesters?
I have and argument with a friend who believes that the number is greater than 70%. I am guessing around 50%. Who do you think is right? Do you think that God approves of what these guys are doing?
A: According to a survey by the Washington Post, over the last four decades, less than 1.5 percent of the estimated 60,000 or more men who have served in the Catholic clergy have been accused of child sexual abuse.[ According to a survey by the New York Times, 1.8 percent of all priests ordained from 1950 to 2001 have been accused of child sexual abuse Thomas Kane, author of Priests are People Too, estimates that between 1 and 1.5 percent of priests have had charges made against them Of contemporary priests, the Associated Press found that approximately two-thirds of 1 percent of priests have charges pending against them.[
Q: Do you think that Catholic priests should be permitted to marry, if they wish?
Leave celibacy optional?
Those that want to can and those that do not want to do not.
A: "It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband... But I [Paul] say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that." 1 Corinthians 7: 1a-2, 7
Q: What kind of penance do Catholic priests generally assign?
Like what do they make you do?
A: Usually my sins concern sinning against God, and so the penance is usually in the form of prayers or scripture reading.
When you sin against another human being, usually a priest will also tell you the necessary things to rectify the situation (eg. give back what you stole, confess to the police about the murders you committed, etc).
