Q: Have you ever transferred from a public high school to a catholic high school?
I'm thinking of doing it. I don't have the time to type a big long thing right now but be warned I will later. I've attended catholic school my whole life. This year (I'm a freshman) I decided to go with two of my friends to my town's public high school. All the other girls save 4 in my class went to an all girls catholic high school. Now I'm thinking of transferring there. Have you done something similar or would you?
A: I went from a catholic preschool, middle school and high school to a public one for the last two years.
It was really good for me, I meet new people with different opinions about life, religion, politics, etc.
And after school I went to private college and I liked it to, it all depends on how you see things and if you can enjoy every different situation.
You want to go to the new school? go what do you have to loose?
Q: How do you make a good impression while meeting with a Catholic High School?
I come from a Public school and I've booked an appointment with the vice principal of the Catholic high school for acceptance. What are they looking for? I'm a straight A student so academic stuff shouldn't be a problem. I'm not "officially" Catholic, so I don't know much about the Catholic religion.
How do I make a good impression? What should I wear? (I'm a girl) Should I address him as "Sir" or would that seem like I'm trying too hard?
A: Sir or Ma'am unless it's a Priest, Sister, or Brother. Sisters are nuns. They're addressed as "Sister;" priests are called "Father" and I am fairly sure Brothers are addressed as "Brother." I could be wrong on that. Whomever interviews you will probably introduce him or herself. Usually, it's Father Frank, Sister Mary Katherine, Brother Tom but you should ask if you're in doubt. "Yes, Sister" or "No, Father" is appropriate enough. They like when you remember names though.
Wear conservative clothing. Nothing tight. A dress, structured pants or skirt suit, conservative heels or flats. A ring, small earrings, a watch... minimal jewelry.
Don't offer your hand to shake if you're a girl. If the other person does, then do shake hands. Practice shaking hands.
Answer questions truthfully but keeping their goals in mind. Expect questions about how you feel about studying Catholicism, why you want to attend their school, and what you intend to do with the education that you get there like, "I know that I will thrive in the environment of this school because of the low teacher/student ratio. I plan to study medicine and your school has a reputation for preparing students for higher education. I know x school will provide me with good foundation." You'll have to do some research about the school to answer those questions. Also, if you have hobbies or other interests like sports, be prepared to talk about them. Be prepared to ask a few questions too. Good questions would be about the average SAT score of graduates or about the acceptance rate to private colleges.
Smile. Look the interviewer in the eyes. Don't lie. Sit like a lady - back straight, ankles crossed, knees together (regardless of slacks or skirt), and hands in the lap with one hand on top of the other. Be as poised as possible. In my day we had to curtsy. I don't think that's on the "to do" list today. I remember, more than 30 years ago, that one school served tea. I suppose that was to weed out those without manners. What a juggle though! Tea, a saucer, no tables.
I hope this helped more than it made you nervous. Don't worry.. just do your best, try to be yourself (within reason), and I know you'll do ok.
Q: How can I get a job as a history teacher in a Catholic high school?
I have a bachelors degree in communications and no teaching experience. I'm interested in teaching history in a Catholic high school in Maryland or Washington, DC. What is the best way to go about getting into this field?
A: Check out this website for the Archdiocese of Washington's Office of Catholic Schools: http://www.adw.org/education/edu_teach.asp
With love in Christ.
Q: What's a good basketball warm-up play list for a Catholic girls high school team?
OK, I've seen a lot of play lists out there, but I have a bit of a constraint. It's for a Catholic high school girl's team. I can't have anything with bad language or inappropriate religious references. Can anyone help me out tonight? I have the obligatory Eye of the Tiger and We Will Rock You, but something more contemporary would be helpful.

Q: What are the most reasons for not being accepted into a Catholic High School?
I know about conduct and grades, but what else can keep you from not being accepted into a Catholic High School?
I'm in a Catholic school right now and to the 2nd comment, I am a Catholic. I meant as in what QUALITIES that I must possess to be accepted.
I am a Catholic. I've been attending a Catholic school since first grade. I honor my faith and religion very much. =]
A: All Catholic schools are different, but grades and conduct, particularly if you're coming from a public school, are most important. If it's a high-demand school that has many more applicants than spaces, then they may further narrow the field based on extra-curricular activites, service work, involvement in your community, etc.
Q: Possible to drop out of Private Catholic High School?
What age do you have to be to be able to drop out of private catholic highschool and then go to public high school? Without having parents' permission that is.
A: I think most states allow emancipation at 14, but you can't be living with your parents.
I think this is something that you need to take up with your parents if you are still at home. Age of majority (most states its 18) is when you get to decide for yourself where you will go to school. You can drop out now, but make sure you go back and finish at 18 (probably at adult school) if you choose that route.
The likelyhood that you will go back right away if you DO drop out now is slim to be realistic about it. I would just stick it out at catholic high school. You will probably not regret it in the end.
Q: how short can catholic high school make you cut your hair?
yeaa wlel i look extreamly funny wiht short hair and since im going to an all boy catholic school they will make me cut my long hair! how short can then amke me cut it and what happens if i do not cut it?
what about the forehead i think it cant pass my eyebrows right? and what repandated or whatever you said mean?
A: So long as the rule applies to everyone, they can make you cut it as short as they want to. Do you have a student handbook? It should say in there under "dress code." In my school, it just had to be above the collar. What will happen if you don't? Detentions, meetings/phone calls with parents, possible suspension, etc. In some ways going into a private school is like going into a military academy. They get to make the rules, and it's much less painful just to learn that and accept it. Take a look at different haircuts. They aren't all bad, find one that works for you.
Q: I go to a Catholic High school but I converted to Islam recently, Should I transfer schools?
My parents are Catholics and so was I. However I converted this summer. Should I transfer to a different High school?
PS:I am Gr 12.
A: and why do you want to go to hell by converted to Islam
Q: what should i expect as a freshman at a catholic high school?
next year i will be a freshman and i have gone to a catholic school for nine years (im in 8th grade)
its a pretty nice high school, not crappy, not that small, but smaller then like the huge public ones.
its just some people say that the seniors will like push you around and say stuff like "hey freshman move" and stuff and they just exaggerate. i would like a say from like older catholic high school people. :D
A: I have no answer about the Catholic School part, but when I was a freshman the only bad part was all the rules for the freshman. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors had less rules and more freedom. That was the worst part for me. As for the upperclassman bullying the freshman, that rarely happened. Besides, it's not like you have FRESHMAN tattooed on your forehead, how are they going to tell what year you are? Some of the seniors at my school look like they are ten and there are some freshman who look like they are in their 20's...I guess it just depends on your school, but good luck and have fun. Stay in school? Hope I helped you a little bit.
Q: I have a meeting with a Catholic High School, what should I wear?
I have a meeting with a Catholic High School about entrance to it.
They only have meetings with a few, so I want to make the best impression possible.
What should I wear?
A: You should really ask your mom this. She will know exactly what you should wear. But I'm pretty sure that cathlics are not going to kill you if you don't wear a sweater vest.
Q: Are Modesty Shorts Really Needed for Catholic High School Under the Skirt??
Do catholic school uniforms really give high school girls modesty problems around boys?
Are modesty shorts really useful?
A: IDK, everyone wears them, they're a lot more comfortable than just your underwear. You can jump around more and not worry about anyone looking a you (impossible to pull a Britney Spears). Also, when you're 13-14 and go to a co-ed Cathlic grade school, you don't want perverted teenage boys with the maturity of a 9 year old sneeking a peek.
Q: How can I get in a good Catholic High school? What are they looking for?
I'm trying to apply for a catholic, private or good public school.
what are SHCP,Mercy, Lowell, University high, looking for in students?
pleez give me some details
A: In general, they are looking for good grades (mostly A's and B's) in 7th and 8th grade, good grades on standardized tests and the high school entrance exams, involvement in some extracurricular activities (sports, drama, babysitting, 4-H, etc.), leadership or community service, a clean discipline record (nothing serious anyway), and recommendations from your current teachers.
In addition, SHCP is looking for Catholic students involved in their parish community or non-Catholic students who are willing to integrate themselves into the school's community of faith.
Q: where can i find a sponsor for my child to attend catholic high school.?
a sponsor or loans? do catholic high schools sponsor students. please someone tell me. i don't think the catholic advisor i working with is being truthful. i need some help
A: You don't need to be sponsored. All you need is a check book. One thing you should do first. Check to see if the parish staff of priests and nuns have any police records. Check for pedophiles.
Q: does a private catholic high school have the right to go through your backpack without permission?
i go to a catholic school, we are required to have laptops.
without my permission or acknowledgment they took my laptop and took it to be searched through.
i thought at first i had it stolen when i went to get my backpack too.
so is a private catholic school above the law so that they can steal my backpack and go through my private stuff without my consent? now they are even holding it hostage and are making my parents pick it up!!
A: They have the right to do anything they think will keep our kids safe at school.Grow up and stop being such a baby.
Q: How to prepare for a Catholic High School interview?
I'm applying a a Cathlic High school as a STUDENT, how should I prepare for the interview? It's with the principal, I'm really enthusiastic about [maybe] going there. What questions will be asked?
Also, what should I wear?
Thanks!
A: You should definitely be dressy and professional. (maybe a nice skirt and collared shirt). There is no real way to prepare for these Catholic school interviews (trust me, as a student at one, I know) just be yourself and answer all of the questions honestly.
