Q: What is the difference between catholic and christian and the difference between roman catholic and catholic?
well ,i'm a roman catholic but haven't been practicing my faith and is very much confused about the above descriptions.

A: Many various sects claim the title catholic but only those who are in faithful obedience to the Pope are genuinely `Catholic` or `Roman Catholic` all others are lacking in doctrinal areas. Catholic simply means Universal but unless you are in union with Rome you are not a full functioning member of Christ`s holy church on earth. God bless.

Q: Why does not the roman catholic church spend her money in Mexico to resolve poverty there?
Why isn't the church creating job programs so nobody has to illegally enter into America ?Why isn't the Roman Catholic Church not more vocal there about corruption there and demaning corruption reforms and more social programs such as welfare, food stamps in Mexico ?

A: They are wide spread in Latin America and they could easily fight for the children in the slums and sewers of Mexico.. they don't. They could easily fight the corruption of Mexico, but they don't, and maybe, they are the source of corruption themselves. That would be a repetition of the past by the ways as the Catholic Church sold huge forgivenesses to the wealthy.. for everything.. in one of the more corrupt acts the Church is guilty of. They could easily fight poverty and they instead demand the United States move aside and give the illegal aliens their jobs sos the Church can profit from the money moving south. Anyone interested in this mess can do a search for catholic illegal aliens and they will discover a huge resource of information. 1 - 10 of 3,340,000 for catholic illegal aliens in Yahoo. One article... Cardinal Mahony Says Illegal Aliens Committing ID Fraud Is Not Theft By Digger http://www.diggersrealm.com/mt/archives/002249.html Yesterday I mentioned a protest being held in Philadelphia where Cardinal Roger Mahony would be at an immigration event at the National Constitution Center downtown. I have gotten word from Stop The Invasion of one of the questions that Cardinal Mahony was asked by an audience member. During the question and answer period at the above forum, the moderator asked Cardinal Mahony a question submitted by a member of the audience. The question: Since the 7th Commandment says "Thou Shalt Not Steal", doesn't smuggling, identity theft, breaking and entering and fraud come under this commandment. Doesn't this apply to illegal aliens? The moderator then gave Cardinal Mahony a chance to think about his answer. He smiled and answered, "No", to some laughter from the 99% pro-illegal alien audience. Cardinal Mahony said that the commandments are about "Thou Shalt Not" and went on to explain his approach. ========================================== Where did the Church put its head?

Q: What are the main differences between the Roman Catholic Church and the National Catholic Church?
I am Roman Catholic but not informed as to this splinter group.

A: The main difference is that the National Catholic Church does not recognize the authority of the Pope. I believe they also permit divorced people to receive the Eucharist. So despite their claims, they are not administering the Sacraments validly as far as the Roman Catholic Church is concerned. Here's a link to their website, if you want to learn more: http://nationalcatholicchurch.org/NCC/Welcome.html

Q: What protestant denominations today do not trace back to the roman catholic church?
If you call "the whore of babylon" (the world empire of false religion)the roman catholic church does that mean that you don't have to include your denomination from being a part of that? How do you come to that conclusion?

A: The Catholic church, I believe, is the Great Whore mentioned in the Revelation, and the Protestant churches are her "harlot daughters". Not trying to offend, but read your bible and compare the doctrines of your church with what Scripture actually says. No honest person can say that their church is clean.

Q: Roman Catholics (and others who wish to answer) Have you ever attended an Eastern Catholic Divine Liturgy?
When IJR was growing up Byzantine Catholic, the Sunday School teacher wanted us to get a good understanding the CATHOLIC or UNIVERSAL nature of the church, so she arranged for the class to attend a mass at a local Roman Catholic Church. While still a Catholic, IJR attended many other Masses as well. IJR was just wondering if any R.C had gone to an Eastern Catholic service. How did you like it?

A: I've been to a wedding at a Greek Orthodox church, does that count? The church was beautiful and the ceremony was very nice.

Q: Why do people blaspheme the Roman Catholic Church?

Q: How can a 60-year old American man become a Roman Catholic priest, brother or monk?
I'm divorced; my children are all grown up and financially independent; I've had 16 years of Roman Catholic Education. I originally came to Thailand as a Jesuit Lay Volunteer Missionary and live in Thailand now. Now that I'm free from parental responsibilities etc., I believe God is calling me to some form of the Roman Catholic Clergy vocation. My Bachelor's degree is from Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass 1968; my Master is in Education from USC, L.A. Cal 1974. I've been running my own tutorial service in Bangkok since 1986. I'm in excellent health.

A: Why not become a Deacon of your parish? Deacons can be married with children.

Q: what is the difference between Roman Catholic and Catholic?
My daughter is enrolling my granddaughter in school and its a catholic school and they asked if she was baptized Roman Catholic or Catholic?

A: Roman Catholic is one of perhaps 9 ways of being Catholic. There are 8 or 9 rites in our Church. The Roman Rite (at this time, but not always) is the largest of these rites. Some of the others are Byzantine, Chaldean, Syro-Malabar (Indian), Alexandrian, Antiochan, Ge'ez (Ethiopian), Maronite (Lebanese). They all believe the same, but their customs and liturgies are quite different. Hope this helps, Jim

Q: whats the difference between Christian and Roman Catholic churches?
i understand Roman Catholics are just another type of Christians, but i was wondering would the prayers differ between the religion branches? is one more strickt than the other? i am a cathcholic my self, always have been, but since i moved places, i was unable to find any catholic churches near by so i decided to pay a visit to an ordinary chirstian church. is there anything i need to expect that will differ from the ceremony im use to in catholic church?

A: It's obvious from the Book of Acts in the Bible that catholics didn't even exist during the days of Acts. Those in the Book of Acts are the first Christians, and they believed what would be called fundamentalist doctrine today. ANYONE can read the Book of Acts for themselves and see. Had catholicism existed during the time of Acts, the first Christians would have rejected catholicism completely. Also here's Christians that called the "pope" the antichrist, and who also completely rejected catholicism, long before Martin Luther was even born: c. 1310 Dante Alighieri c. 1331 Michael of Cesena c. 1345 Johannes de Rupescissa c. 1350 Francesco Petrarch c. 1367 John Milicz c. 1379 John Wycliffe c. 1388 Matthias of Janow c. 1389 R. Wimbledon c. 1390 John Purvey c. 1393 Walter Brute c. 1412 John Huss c. 1497 Girolamo Savonarola So not only is it false to say that "catholics were the first Christians", but this list blows away the catholic claim that "no churches existed other than the catholic church, until Martin Luther". There were ALWAYS saved believers outside the catholic cult, who knew catholicism cannot save anyone. Catholicism is not Christian. Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that cannot save (Galatians 1:6-9). Catholicism cannot save. Only believing in Jesus alone for salvation, is what saves. Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, 1 John 5:13). The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what! Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)
