Q: Ok, so what if I went inside the mormon temple for the hell of it?
I'm not mormon at all and been wondering about this. If non mormons are not alllowed in the temple, what would happen if i managed to get inside one anyway? Would the temple be tainted and un pure, hahahahahaha? Is it actually a crime? if so, then its just wrong.
A: Before the temples are dedicated, any person can go through them on a tour - the church holds an open house for every temple.
IF you lied to get baptized, waited for a year AND lied to get a temple recommend...notice all the lying there... AND THEN went to the temple... you'd only be hurting yourself. No, the temple wouldn't be tainted, but your eternal outcome might be! No really, the ordinances wouldn't mean anything because you most likely wouldn't keep the covenants you made there anyways.
I don't know why people want to go there so bad anyways, if they think it's so "bad"...
I love to attend the temple.
Q: What happens if you go into a mormon temple and your not mormon?
I wanted to go in the temple in dallas but they wouldnt let me and they pissed me off, now I just want to go back and just run in there. Can I get in trouble like by the police
A: Once an LDS temple is dedicated not even members can enter it without a recommend from a bishop or branch president. This is because it is considered such a sacred place to the Latter-day Saints. Even the Jewish temples in the Old testament were like that. You have to be pure to enter the temple otherwise it becomes defiled, and the way the people at the door know whether or not you are pure is if you were able to get a recommend (and of course show it to them.) Its not that we're trying to be extra secretive or stuck up, it's just that we believe the temple is a place where the Lord dwells.
And yes, if you are persistent enough, the people at the temple might just call the police on you. And yes, you will get in trouble.
Q: Why is there an inverted pentagram above the main entrance to the Mormon Temple and the do NOT allow crosses?
of a religious nature in there Temple?
I wonder if garlic is forbidden too.
A: Isn't that a satanic symbol? Remember when radical conservatives accused Proctor & Gamble of having a satanic message in their logo? Sounds like they need to focus some of that moral outrage on this inverted pentagram.
Q: Do you have to be mormon for a amount of time before you can be married in a Mormon Temple?
I know that you have to be baptized in the faith for over a year before you can enter the temple. But i would like to be married in a temple in about 3 years. I will be baptized in a few months.
ALSO, is it hard to be accepted to be married in the Temple?
A: First of all congrats on your decisions and your upcoming baptism. If you have a 3 year timetable set for yourself you should be more than able to meet that.
It is not hard, if you believe your religion and practice it.
Here is an article that might provide some insight. http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=024644f8f206c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=65e746581c79b010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&hideNav=1

Personally, I recommend taking the temple classes if your ward offers them. Good luck. :D
Q: What are mormon temple garments/underwear?
What are mormon temple garments/underwear?
Do you wear them all the time or just at the temple?
Do they really protect the wearer from satan/knives?
A: Here is the answer according to the Official LDS site:
Wearing the Temple Garment
Once people are endowed, they have the blessing of wearing the temple garment throughout their lives. They are obligated to wear it according to the instructions given in the endowment. Those who have been endowed in the temple must remember that the blessings that are related to this sacred privilege depend on their worthiness and their faithfulness in keeping temple covenants.
The garment provides a constant reminder of the covenants made in the temple. The garment should be treated with respect at all times. It should not be exposed to the view of those who do not understand its significance, and it should not be adjusted to accommodate different styles of clothing. When worn properly, the garment provides protection against temptation and evil. Wearing the garment is an outward expression of an inward commitment to follow the Savior.
Q: GLBT! We should hold a massive hunger strike at a Mormon temple in SLC. What do you think?
Would they let us die, or would they give into the way of equality and humanity?
LoL.. great, what did every freethinker on A! get banned all at the same time? No, I will not let it go until I can legally get married. This issue never dies, if I'm arguing it until I'm dead...
A: I understand your frustration but I really don't think they would care. Most of them think we are less than human anyway.
You are right, we can't give up. I agree with what someone said earlier about money making the biggest impact.
Q: When you do the Mormon Temple ceremony, do they really make you disrobe completely and then give you a white?
sheet to put on, with nothing on underneath and then touch or anoint you under the sheet?
A: They used to. They also used to make you pretend to slit your own throat and disembowel yourself if you broke the vow of secrecy.
The ceremony has changed many times over the years, yet still retains its original creepiness.
Q: What do you think of Honduras saying no to a Mormon temple because it blocks view of Catholic church?
A: According to the Mormon Times:
Public fears that a "gigantic temple" would block the view of one of Honduras' most famous Catholic basilicas has led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to look for a new location for the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple.

Part of being a good Christian is being a good neighbor. I appreciate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' decision to look for a new site.
I am also glad that there does not seem to be any anti-Mormon or anti-Catholic rhetoric in the issue.
With love in Christ.
Q: Do you think Jesus would be welcomed into a Mormon Temple since you have to know their secret handshakes and?
pay 10% of your income to be allowed in?
A: Nope. Since Jesus was said to be against churches who REQUIRED payment, he probably wouldn't want to have anything to do with the Mormon church.
Q: What happens if a Mormon forgets their secret Mormon temple password, how do they get into heaven?

alissa.are you old enough to attend the temple? if not, stfu...you don't know what your talking about.
A: This is an excellent question. Several of the Mormon responders just laughed this off, but I assume that's because it's coming from a non-Mormon and they either aren't endowed and don't know what you're talking about or they just don't have an answer.
But the fact is there is little more than speculation available to Mormons wondering how the temple ordinances actually fit in to the more traditional idea of Judgment Day. What if you were an unrepentant Sabbath breaker but knew all the names and signs? Or supposing you were a real Saint, doubled your fast offerings every time a high councilman asked, visited your home teaching families twice a month, ate very little meat ... but somehow misremembered your new name and couldn't come up with it?
The simplest explanation, in my view: Joseph made it up as he went along.
Q: Why are Mormon Temple filled with Masonic symbols and why do they use so many Masonic rituals?
A: The symbols you refer to existed and were widely known, used, and understood long before Freemasonry or the LDS faith existed or made use of them. In many cases, they were at one time universal in their use.
In the early Christian faith, when persecution of Christians forced the faith to exist "underground", various ceremonies, some of which were new and others adapted from existing Jewish and pagan traditions, were used to ensure the continued safety and security of the churches and their members, and also to ensure the sincerity of prospective converts. In minor ways, these rituals can still bee seen in many faiths as part of their acceptance of converts.
Joseph Smith studied those ancient rituals and adopted them into the LDS faith many years before he became a Mason.
Those same ancient rituals, although they slowly fell out of use within the Christian churches, were also adopted and adapted for non-religious purposes by various military orders and trade guilds, for much the same reasons the Church used them. Eventually, as the guilds of stone masons evolved into Freemasonry, those same traditions and rituals carried over into the fraternity.
While the root source of both Masonic rituals and LDS rituals may be the same, each organization came to adopt their use from very different sources. Yes, they do share some similarities, but one did not take from the other in any way and they share no relationship to one another in any way.
Q: Is the controversy over the endowment ceremony in a Mormon temple to be shown by HBO due to embarrassment ?
by Mormons because the outside world will see what goes on in these ceremonys ?
" ceremonies ''
A: I asked about this too. We'll see? I'm sure some will be just mortified, mad or whatever. Really I see no big seal. I used to be mormon, and keeping things secret just makes it more silly. MANY religions ceremonies and rituals are shown on TV all the time. Get over it..
Q: Was there a gay protest at the Twin Falls mormon temple over prop 8 hate gay marriage ban?
A: doubt it - why protest in ID? actually, why protest at all since the voters have spoken TWICE. Sure, you have the right but get on with life.
The lawsuits will fail. this will go to the US Supreme Court and they won't touch it!
Q: Which general authority is going to do the dedicatory prayer at the Mexico City D.F. LDS (Mormon) temple?
Will it be in English with a Spanish interpreter or be solely in English?
Note: the rededication is set for this Sunday, November 16th.
A: There has not been a press release yet. It will probably be President Monson unless he has another commitment. There will probably be at least two Apostles. I assume they do not announce it in case there are last minute adjustments.
Q: Mormons what is up with the new Mormon Temple Recommend?
As of June of 2007, the Mormon Temple Recommend has been changed to add a magnetic strip. While it is unknown what the LDS Corporation is doing with the information gathered by attendance (members must now swipe to get into the Temple), speculation is that the LDS Corporation is tracking individual Membership temple participation.
To my knowledge this is the only church which does this sort of thing. What for you is normal for others is completely wacked out.
you guys are trained well ;)
A: "LDS Corporation"
Wow, you're funny.
I haven't see the magnetic strip, but maybe it's moving into the 21st century that you can just swipe a card instead of having to show all the paper work in order to get into the temple. Trying to make it less of a hassle maybe?
Not like you care because of obvious undertones and ignorance that fills your question shows who you are.
---------
Edit: "speculation is that the LDS Corporation is tracking individual Membership temple participation."
They kept track of it anyway, before the magnetic strip.
