Q: From Mormon history, were the Nehis the founder of that grape soda and the Laminates good in woodworking?

A: all from a barking mad religion founded by a convicted fraudster.

Q: Is The Book of Mormon a Literal History?
If so, where are the ruins of ancient Lamanite and Nephite civilizations?

A: If we can establish that just one part is a lie, then the chances that even more is a lie is greatly enhanced. I hope the following true story will reveal the true nature of the Mormon religion . . . . . . One time, 2 young Mormon women came a-knockin'. They were both very attractive, polite and wholesome. One of them was black. I asked her why she chose to be a Mormon when the Book of Mormon contains insulting bigotry against black people. Here's the verse I'm referring to: 2 Nephi 5:21 "And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." See also: Mormon 5:15, Alma 3:6, Alma 3:9, Alma 3:14 Can you believe that? God made the descendants of Cain black so that they “might not be enticing” unto white people. Blatant, transparent racism right in the "holy" Book of Mormon! Not only is it racist, it's a bald-faced lie!! The white woman spoke up for the black woman and said that racism has been renounced by the Mormon church. The black woman agreed. I asked how the Mormon church got the authority to renounce a verse from their "divinely inspired" Book of Mormon: could they override God's word? They pulled out their "brown books" but could not find an answer. I then pointed out that if God really inspired the Book of Mormon, it would NEVER need ANY part renounced. That only happens when humans pretend they're God. I told them that there were already far too many religions in the world before Mormonism came along. How can God blame anybody for choosing the wrong religion? Will he really condemn billions of people to hell because they guessed wrong? I suggested they keep an open mind and try to place their faith in scripture that doesn't contain ideas and practices that we know are wrong. What I didn't say was that, if they really tried to follow my advice, they wouldn't find ANY scripture WITHOUT ideas and practices we know are wrong. I must say that, despite the outcome of our conversation, the 2 young ladies remained open and engaged. I didn’t detect any animosity. However, when they eventually left, they were visibly shaken.

Q: family home evening lesson about the Mormon history?

A: You can either read a really good story from the Friend, New Era or Ensign. You could also go to the lds.org site to get an idea. Anything that is interesting to you-is the way to go. Good luck!

Q: I want to learn about Mormon history in Ne.?

A: What especially do you want to know? Or do you look for a possibility to study it in an easy manner? You can here the books of Nephi http://www.lds.org/mp3/display/0,18692,5297-41,00.html You can to some sports, perhaps gymnastics by listening to the books of Nephi

Q: Why does BYU fire professors for teaching accurate mormon history?
http://atheism.about.com/b/a/257447.htm

A: Dallin and Boyd are behind this particular 'reign of terror' at YBU, and have issued many talks, 'chats' and conference speeches demonizing all aspects of scientific and historical inquiry. "Some truths are not that helpful.." is indicative of this mantra. The Maxwell Institute exists purely as the apologistic arm of and paid for by the church that practices 'over-explaining' well beyond it's credible limit. They do not trouble themselves as scientists, but more like lawyers attempting to introduce some level of 'doubt' to a scientific fact that counters an implausible BoM claim. These guys think telescopes are works of the devil.

Q: LDS/Mormons: Have you ever heard about the Great Lakes Limited Geography theory of Book of Mormon History?
http://mormonskeptic.blogspot.com/2007/04/great-lakes-limited-geography-theory.html What do you think about this blogger's take?

A: * * __

Q: What evidence/proof exists for the LDS Mormon claim that the Book of Mormon is factual history?
Is there any archeological evidence of the people discribed in the Book of Mormon? What about the battles? Are Native Americans really descended from ancient Israelites? Does evidence support these claims?

A: The Book of Mormon is a book of fiction written by a charlatan and a crook named Joseph Smith. He claimed to have translated the book from original gold plates provided by the angel Moroni with 3D like glasses. Neither the plates nor the glasses were ever found. In fact if it was factual history why did the Mormon leadership revise the original text and drop controversial material through the ages. Every single word you find is false and absolutely nowhere factual or historical.

Q: How will the fact that Mitt Romney is a member of the Mormon (LDS) Church effect his election chances in 2008?
Religion always plays some role in an election at this level. I think it will be interesting to see how the whole thing plays out with Mitt Romney being a Mormon. One school of thought is that it will work against him, since many voters will recall some of the more negative aspects of Mormon history. This will make them pass on Romney. On the other hand, both Romney and his Church are pretty conservative. While Mormonism finds itself at odds with a lot of typical evangelical Christian doctrine, there are still common teachings. Maybe enough of that huge voting block of self-described evangelical Christians would support Mitt Romney for this reason. But then, maybe not. What do you think? How will the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon effect his election hopes?

A: Romney has no chance of winning because most real conservatives see him as someone who will change his opinion to get votes. Why do we see it that way? Because he did exactly that on issues concerning abortion and gay marriage. A good portion of the christian right see mormons as a cult. So it would have a negative effect on his campaign. Not as big as his flip-flopping does though.

Q: How can any Christian point a finger at mormon racism when the history of traditional christianity is racist?
The spread of christianity was one of the excuses used to wipe the indians out of the americas and the fact that the white man was superior in the eyes of God was part of the reasons "christians" justified slavery. So how does any other Christian feel justified in pointing the finger at mormons. They might have denied the priesthood authority to blacks but it didnt support the institution of slavery like many other traditional Christian churches and leaders. In fact part of the reasons people during that time did not like mormon communities is because it was anti slavery and threatened the political authority on the issue. Why is there so much hypocrisy when it comes to criticizing the mormon church? Why do some christians ignore their own history when criticizing the mormon church? Witness Would you like to present an argument that wasnt from a hundred years ago? You didnt really address the question, which is the hypocrisy of criticizing the mormon church for something their own churches did. Every religion is going to say other religions are wrong. I dont blame any church for doing that. What a church doesnt need to do is focus on why every other church is wrong in their teachigns instead of teaching why their church is right. Mormons dont hold classes on other religions and how they are wrong. They dont go around telling other churches that they arent christians and dont believe in the real God or Christ. I just dont get how any other christian can criticize the mormon church for things their own church histories have in them. It makes no sense. and mormons dont believe non mormons are going to hell If your own church's history is full of racism, murder and scandal then where do you get off pointing at mormons and saying how wrong the mormon church is for far less scandal. beachlad I think you need to relook at the actual question. I am not saying we should go around condemning other religions histories. I was asking how any Christian could go around condemning mormons for actions that their own religions history contains.

A: WITNESS4's answer, is painfully obvious in its' judgment of Mormonism, otherwise "he" would not have spent so much time quoting from various writings. EVERYBODY who judges or condemns anothers religion, Mormon or otherwise, are not living according to the teachings of Jesus. We can rant and rave, but that only points out how biased we are. The obvious way to choose to live, is to deal with ourselves as individuals, without concerning ourselves about the past teachings, present teachings, or future teachings of other religions. If we take each individual on their own merits, like the Muslim friends, Mormon friends, Catholic friends, etc. that I enjoy, then we don't have to waste our precious time on this earth, trying to point out others mistakes. There is not one religion on this planet that has, or is, not making mistakes. When so much time and effort is taken, trying to condemn a person or a religion, we can only turn around and state:- Do onto others as they would do onto you Love thy neighbor as yourselves and "I have no time to quarrel, no time for regrets and no man can force me to stoop low enough to hate him." Lawrence James NOT a Mormon and I do not choose to belong to an organized religion, but I do attempt to follow the teachings of Jesus and others, who preach love, unconditionally.

Q: At what specific point in early Church history does Mormon doctrine say it went into apostacy?
A citation if you can, please.

A: Orson Pratt, an early Mormon theologian claimed that, "[t]his great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now." Not very specific, is it? There is another page that talks about this. See the second Source below. Both sources are from BACs, so they have very differing views from LDS people themselves.

Q: Is the Book of Mormon a true Book and actual history?

A: Mormans believe it is, I do not.

Q: Mormons have close ties with American Indians. The whole Book of Mormon is a history of Native Americans...?
Was it the Indians that taught White Mormons to not smoke? Which tribe?? Which tribe is in the BOM??

A: There is no current tribe names in the Book of Mormon. Smoking is not forbidden in the Book of Mormon. This was a modern day revelation. Many Indian tribes particularly those in the Uto-Aztecan language group that have stories of a lost white brother. Read "He Walked the Americas" by L. Taylor Hansen

Q: Is my history teacher Mormon?
Here's the facts: -he has 6 kids -he is really into geneology -he is conservative -he used to live in Utah -he doesnt drink soda or anything but water -he hates Communists This has been bugging me all year, so what do you guys think?

A: He might be, but you would get the most accurate answer by asking him rather than us.

Q: Do Mormon LDS missionaries get or feel mad if you know the TRUTH about their religion and beliefs and history?
like when their at your door trying to convert you.. dead baptism magic underwear, jesus satan brothers, teaching that god can tell their men to have multiple wives in bed at same time, all that stuff

A: Leave them alone.
