Q: Why do the characters on 'Big Love' not wear the Mormon garments?
Do FLDS not wear them?
A: Each Mormon sect has their own take on garments.
The largest, the LDS, wear a 2 piece with short legs and sleeves and with special masonic markings.
The FLDS wear long johns with no special markings.
Other sects probably have their own. I suspect Big Love isn't portraying a real sect.
Q: Mormon Sacred Garments?
Let's try this again... Mormons wear what some ignorant people call "magic underwear." I'd like to know more about it.
I was told it was a T-shirt and underwear type combo. What is it made of?
How is it made? By machine? By hand? What kind of ceremony/process makes it sacred?
Are there any pictures, words or symbols on it?
Who wears them? How often? How many Mormons roughly wear them?
And finally, why the resistance to talk about them? Don't you realize that breeds ignorance and let's idiots make jokes about 'magic underwear'?
A: Modern day LDS (Mormon) garments are t-shirt and knee Length. They are only worn by the members that have gone through the LDS Temple. Once a member has gone through the temple they are given these garments which are considered sacred. They are not talked about much publicly even to other members of the church other than the fact that you are supposed to wear them at all times, and that they should never show to the public.
The fabrics do vary... I have seen cotton and silk like garments. ( I was married to a Mormon man who wore the garments) They do have markings on them which are also said to be sacred and carry some form of symbolism on them. --- These markings are also NEVER talked about.. so if you find more information on them please let me know.
There are no words printed on them, and the markings are small stitches on certain area's of the body.
The garments are always white, men and women both wear them after having gone through the temple. They also are buried in them.

Q: What is up with all the mystery about Mormon under garments? Are they so different from other underwear?
Maybe someone could help me. I answered this question hoping to bring the mystery to light. Please check it out to see if I need to edit.

I looked up Suzannes link, and I have to say I think the man's under garment is very appealing. Nor much left to the imagination. It does bring up the question of where he keeps his socks.
A: I for one, am not a Mormon, but I would like to answer your query in a reasonable manner. I myself have drawers for all occasions. I have my lumberjack drawers, my doctor drawers, my "Farmer John" drawers etc, etc. Now, my understanding of the Mormon drawers is that when the golden plates were dug up by Joseph Smith, it was written on them that the tree of good and evil had "fruit of the loom" , but, I could be wrong.
Q: If a mormon died their garments black, would they be excommunicated?
I mean, do they really control what color of underwear you wear, also?
A: I doubt that alone would lead to excommunication. If a person who has been endowed did that, there are probably bigger issues between them and the church that would lead to it.
Q: Do you have to wear holy under garments for the rest of your life if you are a Mormon?
A: When a Mormon goes through the temple for the first time they go through an initiation rite where they are ceremonially anointed with oil and water and start wearing the special Mormon underwear. For a man it is a white undershirt and briefs with legs to the knees. For a woman it is a camisole top and nylon panties with legs to the knee. On the breast of both the men’s garment and the woman’s garment are small embroidery stitches that form an L and a V. These represent the compass and square [Masonic symbols]. After they put on the garment they dress in white clothes with a green apron. The men wear a funny shaped hat, the women wear a veil for the ceremony, which includes learning special handshakes and passwords that they need to know in order to get in to the highest LDS heaven.
All missionaries and good Mormons that have gone through the temple wear the LDS undergarment . They are buried in the special clothes they wear during the temple ritual.
The LDS claim the Book of Mormon is the "fulness of the gospel" (D. & C. 20:9, 27:5), but it says nothing about temple rites. In fact, the Book of Mormon says, "The Lord worketh not in secret combinations" (Ether 8:19). But, LDS temple rites are secret from all but devout Mormons. Jesus said, "in secret have I said nothing" (John 18:20).
Jesus never participated in or performed temple rites like the LDS have. Thus, if LDS are actually following the Lord's example as they claim, there should be no secret temple rites. Such rites even exclude non-LDS parents from attending the wedding of a son or daughter who has joined the LDS Church. Yet, the LDS Church claims that it has a wonderful family program!

Q: Do mormon women really have to wear their bra on the outside of their garments?
I've heard plenty of women saying that they (or their mothers did this very thing. I wasn't sure if it was really true.
A: For the many people that answered that seemed to misunderstand what you meant by 'garments' - Mormons that have been through the temple wear temple garments, which replace their underwear. Our temple garments are very sacred to us and represent promises we have made to Heavenly Father. They are worn under the rest of our clothing. So, if a woman is wearing her bra over her temple garment under the rest of her clothes, you would never know.
To answer the question, it is a personal decision. I do, because I am fairly big busted and bras have to be tight to support me, so they irritate my very senstive skin (I have bad skin allergies and am always getting rashes and hives, so my skin is hyper sensitive all the time). I keep my bras over my garments, and the material of the garment protects my skin from irritation. Not all LDS women choose to do this.
Q: Does David Archuleta wear Mormon garment?
David Archuleta on American Idol is a Mormon. Mormons wear on a regular basis an undergarment known as a "temple garment", which a non-Mormon may think of as Holy underwear. At what age do Mormon men start wearing this? Is David Archuleta of age to be wearing it now? If he does wear this, does it give him an advantage over the other singers?
A: No
He wouldnt have gone thru the temple yet. Only those that have gone thru the temple and have made certain covenants wear them.
Guys usually go thru before a mission (which is normally at age 19)
Its usually over the age 18 and when you feel you are ready to go to the temple.
Q: Mormon Garment?
What is a Mormon garment and why do they have to wear it?
Girls....do you have to wear it under your bra?
A: The mormon temple garment is a physical reminder of the covenants that we as endowed member made in the temple. They help us to remember to keep ourselves clean and unspotted from the world. They are comfy cotton or cotton/polyester blend. Usually they are 2 piece but I have seen some that are one piece.
*EDIT*
Yes. We are taught to wear them as the closest thing to our bodies. It isn't uncomfortable though.
Q: Are there any other Mormon women out there who hate their garments?
I have tried to be a trooper and just get used to these things, but to be honest I have absolutely hated them from day one. They make every single top with B cup boob pockets. I'm a 32A which means I have extra fabric just smashed inside my shirts every day which can create ugly lumps under my breasts. The tops that don't have any cups at all you can only wear under a turtle neck with long sleeves because even a modest neckline won't cover it up. The bottoms of the tops aren't even hemmed so they are constantly rolling up on me all day long. Would it kill the church to make a hem at the bottom of these tops to prevent this problem?
Now for the bottoms: The waist on the bottoms comes up about an inch over my belly button. I feel like I'm wearing my grandmother's panties. And I can't even put on my jeans in the morning without having to cram my entire arm down each pant leg to stuff the legs back down because they've ridden way up to the tops of my legs from putting on my jeans.
I am really getting fed up with this. These things are uncomfortable and not functional in the slightest. I really feel like the lds church doesn't give a crap about its women. I feel so uncomfortable and I hate this. I've been wearing them since November and I am starting to think I'll never get used to it. Sometimes I just feel like crying about it.
Are there any other Mormon women who feel this way? Do you feel like your needs are being overlooked? Do you feel uncomfortable in your G's? I need some support.
You're not allowed to alter them
The men wear garments too, but theirs are way more comfortable and functional than the women's.
A: In my time women were burning their bras It was a sight to behold I can assure you
Maybe the time has now come to burn the knicker too
Why don't you go shopping and get kitted out The only underwear a woman needs is a pair of Susie's

Are some of Mary Quant's relations on here
Q: Mormon church. when are you going to change the garments,?
The garments were once changed from long pants to shorter one. Are they going to change again to catch up with the times.
I was raised LDS. i had to cut off the "things" for my parents! and they are not just like boxers they are much longer. so i was wondering if anyone thinks they are going to change them again. My sister-in-law says she wishes they would because its hard to find cute clothes to wear over them......
A: I heard a rumour that they were going to issue wallet-sized cards with the garment symbols on them that LDS members could just carry around with them. Not eveyone in 3rd world countries can afford all those expensive garments. Anyway I'm sure it's just a rumour. But it IS true that the Mormon church eventually will change to catch up with the times just as it has done so many times before.
Q: Is there a special support garment for large breasted Mormon women?
Also is there a special support garment for working out, or do you wear one under your regular garments, or do you not have to wear garments when you work out... what about if you go swimming...etc
A: You gotta be kiddin here right?
1) No - that's what your BRA is for
2) No - most choose to not wear them during sports etc
3) swimming - duh - of course not!
OK - let's talk about YOUR underwear now too, shall we??
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q: Masonic symbols on Mormon underwear?
Why are there masonic symbols on Mormon underwear?
Info on these Mormon garments: http://packham.n4m.org/temples.htm
A: Whether the symbols are those of Masons are unimportant to Mormons. They have symbolic meaning as to who they are and what they should be doing. The garments are sacred in nature and no, I did not follow the link and cannot confirm or deny that which I have not bothered to read.
