Q: Mormon faith?
In Mormon faith do all of them believe in polygamy cult? or do u have a choice?... i work for Mormon and i didnt want to ask them so i just really want to know if these things i see on tv are true!
A: I am Mormon and no, we do not. The people in the cult ARE NOT Mormon and the Mormon faith does not support those people. We do not believe in or practice polygamy. We are LDS (Latter Day Saints) the cult is called FLDS (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints) They are a reformed version of Mormonism that gets no funding or support from the actual church. The only reason people think that they are Mormon is because they also read from The Book of Mormon.
Q: What is forbiden by the mormon faith?
I met a girl through a face book group around the sport we are both in, and she is mormon, I like her alot, but I just wanted to know so I can stop feeling like Im treading on thin ice constantly... What is forbiden by the mormon faith, and what is frowned upon? Star Wars? Role Playing? I know sex before marraige and coffee, but whatelse?
Well Im fine with being friends but thats a bit tooo far : ) no offense but it just aint me and I am not going to change my entire life over one girl I like (not love)
A: The best person to ask would be the new friend you have made!!! She will like it that you are interested. All I know is that they dont drink tea and coffee but you know that already!
Q: Why Are Mormons So Upset About Being Portrayed As Polygamous When Polygamy Is Part Of The Mormon Faith?
Shouldn't Mormons embrace the lifestyle that their religion dictates they live? If they're against it, why don't they just change their faith so that Polygamy is no longer allowed?
A: Mainstream Mormons do not practice polygamy but they still believe it is a "eternal principle" that is only being put aside temporarily because it is illegal in the USA. Most believe that polygamous relationships will exist in heaven.
Personally, I think polygamy (between consenting adults) should be legal because its a victimless crime (as long as its exclusively practiced by consenting adults). It is odd that Big Love is upsetting to so many people. I would think that the FLDS church would be far more damaging and bothersome to mainstream Mormons than an HBO series.
Q: What are the main Differences between The Mormon Faith and The Christian Faith , or are they Similar?
A: Just in response to Chris's answer up above. According to the official doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) Jesus Christ is indeed "God" even the great Jehovah from the Old Testament.
1 The veil was taken from our minds, and the eyes of our understanding were opened.
2 We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber.
3 His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:
4 I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father.
Q: Was Mitt Romney's failure as a candidate, related to his Mormon faith?
Can Mormon's successfully run for national office in the USA?
A: I think it was less about his religion and more about his lack of appeal to voters. He never seemed genuine AND his opponents were quick to point out his "conversion" to conservatism. I don't think people trusted him.
Q: How do I reconnect with my Mormon faith?
I was brought up to believe in the Mormon faith, but I've realized there are so many other faiths and beliefs all claiming to be the right one. Also, I constantly hear alot of negative things about this faith-Some people even consider it a cult. I am beginning to feel skeptic, and so i've slowly begun losing my faith all together.
How can I know in my heart that this religion is the true, and that it will lead me into the right direction, and strengthen my relationship with God?
If not, where can I turn?
Please help me! Give me your testemony of faith-I don't care what religion you believe in- and let me know how you know for sure in that in all your heart it is correct.
A: Last semester at college, i had that same question. I had been brought up in the Mormon church and i had always "lived the ways of the church" but i never knew if it was really the right way. It really bugged me that i didn't know if it was true. I had heard so many people talk about how they knew it to be the right church, but how could only one church be true out of thousands? I didn't know what i should do. I had a roommate that "dropped" out of the church. It was an interesting cycle. At first she was very confused and it seemed like she wasn't happy. She got with a guy and started to do bad stuff with him. She would come home crying, but she never really changed to come back to the church. I saw a change happen with her. I can't even explain it, but it was like the light in her was changing. She was not happy, but she kept on doing those things. I started to see her going numb to her feelings. It was a very interesting situation, being able to see that so close. That's what really started making me think about my religion. I started reading the Book Of Mormon. I've really never read it before. I alway skimmed through it, not really caring what it said, i was just doing it to say i had done it. But this time i took out my red pencil and marked up all the things i saw in it. I would read and read until 2 in the morning. At first i didn't think i would get my answer. But as i read, truly read it, i got my answer.
It got to the point where if i went a day without reading the words from that book, i wouldn't be at ease. I can't even explain it. It was just a change that happened in me. I became so much more happy and I felt God in my life so much more.
Since then, there has been so many trying times in my life. And I have felt God with me more than ever.
I still respect, but i don't believe that "all roads lead to heaven" there is something so much more powerful than just "all things are right." There has to be a power on this earth that only God can give away, there has to be. I have felt something this past year that i cannot forget. I have felt God's hand in my life. He has told me, through the feelings that i have had, that this church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is the ONLY true church. How can a church be true if it is a break off of something else? or if it has been altered so much throughout the years? Truly God would not let us stay in confusion. and he hasn't. the Book of Mormon, if you study it out, makes so much sense. It even explains how native Americans came to be. If there was not a Christ, how could we be? heaven would be impossible, and we would all be Dammed if we did not have a Christ to save us. I have seen miracles, real miracles. If we didn't have the power of God on earth we would not be able to have these miracles. This power is the Priesthood. There is no other church in the world that has this full power. That is why the Church of Latter Day Saints is the only true church. How can there be two different stories and they are both true? There can only be one truth. This is what i truly believe with my whole heart. If it were not true, how could i have this feeling inside of me that is telling me it is true? It is true, and I know it, i don't just think it, I know it.
Search out the Words of the Prophets, the Living Prophets and Ancient Prophets. If you truly ponder them out you will be able to get the answer that you are searching for, what ever that answer may be, This thing i know.
Q: In the Mormon faith, are mormon girls permitted to eat a mean popsicle, spiritually speaking?
A: you already know the answer ... what, did a mormon pants you or something?
Q: How long does the Mormon faith say that one day of fasting is?
A: Fast Sunday......We eat dinner on Saturday......we do not eat Sunday breakfast or lunch and then end the fast with dinner on Sunday. So it is almost 24 hours. Many saints then give the money that would have been used on breakfast and lunch to the church to help feed the less fortunate.
Q: Is it better to be born into the Mormon faith or to convert into it?
A: It's best to never have anything at all to do with it.
And if, like me, you were unfortunate enough to be born into a family that stuffs mormonism down your throat, then the best thing to do is to leave it as soon as you are old enough.
Peace.
(geez, I can't *believe* I agree with Losasha on something!!!)
Q: What do you think of the Mormon/LDS faith?
Do you think its beliefs are legitimate? What specifically about it do you think is believable or not believable?
What do you think about the Word of Wisdom they follow (no alcohol, tea, coffee, tobacco, drugs)?
A: I think Siddhartha Gautama (the first Buddha) came up with many philosophies that were very wise and very useful in our lives even today, but that doesn't mean I should subscribe to the religious ideologies of Buddhism. The same goes for the Mormon quotes that aren't heretical. They are good natured enough, but that doesn't make up for the heretical views expressed elsewhere in LDS doctrines.
Q: What is your opinion of Mitt Romney's speech, and about his Mormon faith?
Does it really matter?
A: I love what Romney said about separation of church and state, that it doesn't mean we should take religion out of the public square. I loved how he pointed out that we are a "nation under God" and that "in God we do trust." I get so infuriated when people try to remove religion from the public square using separation of church and state as justification! They're twisting and perverting the true meaning of separation of church and state. Romney explained exactly what separation of church and state means and I couldn't have said it better!
I also get extremely angry when people say Mormons are not Christians. Out of all the misconceptions people have about Mormonism, that's the one that bothers me the most. So, I'm really glad that Romney corrected this misconception by reasserting his faith and belief in Christ. I LOVED Mitt Romney's speech!!!!
Q: Do you think there should be Mormon observances in the U.S. Congress because they equal the Jewish faith, 1.7%?
The Mormon faith equals the Jewish faith in the U.S. at 1.7%. Maybe Congress should break for Pioneer Day every July 24.
I know I know, a lot facetious, but many will get my point.

A: I think they should celebrate the birthday of Joseph Smith. Take the day off and worship him.
But I get your point. Congress never misses an opportunity to stop working and party with the lobbyists.
Of course I 'm not complaining. Not working is what they do best and it is the only time I feel safe.
Q: A question for my fellow Christians, who of the Mormon Faith and Church?.?
What is the difference of theology between the RLDS, FLDS and LDS Mormon Church's?.
Thank you for your replies and God Bless.
A: There are too many differences to easily go into it here. The main schism is over polygamy, in both cases, but there are also other doctrinal differences.
RLDS (now Community of Christ) refused to follow Brigham Young, feeling that Joseph's son should be the next prophet, and did not agree with the practice of polygamy as was being practiced by the LDS church at the time.
The FLDS broke off when the LDS church ended the practice of polygamy.
Both groups have their own prophets. The Community of Christ prophets are completely different from the LDS, except for Joseph. The FLDS have the same prophets as the LDS up until John Taylor, and then their's are different.
Here are each group's own websites, that can describe their doctrines better than I:

Community of Christ (RLDS) http://www.cofchrist.org/
FLDS http://www.fldstruth.org/
Q: What is Mormon Faith?
I have see a lot of Mormon faith around, and I honestly have no clue what they believe. Can someone tell me??
A: First, they believe that if someone dies without believing that Jesus is the only way to God, all we get to do is pray for this spirit to be saved from eternal death and second, Jesus appeared again for an ancient people in Mexico ( maybe the astecs) and a man called morone is the one who saw Him.They also have a blue book which they consider a complement to the Sacred Bible
Both are devilsh ideas opposing what the bible teachs
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO BE SAVED FROM ETERNAL DEATH, IS TO BELIEVE IN SPIRIT THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD AND THE ONLY WAY TO SALVATION. BUT YOU HAVE TO DO THIS WHILE YOU LIVE. SEARCH FOR JESUS AND HE WILL BLESS YOU.
Q: What are all the important supporting books for the Mormon faith?
What do they study that is essential to their religion?
A: The standard works for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are, in no particular order:
The Holy Bible - King James Version
The Book of Mormon
The Doctrine and Covenants
The Pearl of Great Price
And, the conference reports contained in the magazine, The Ensign - as these contain the words of our Prophet and the Council of the Twelve.
