Q: After having read, how many others of you have read to also found truth in the Book of Mormon?
After having read the Book of Mormon, I found it to be the word of God, to complement, not contradict the King James Version of the Bible...just wondering who also had the same feel feelings?
A: You are absoluetly right! The Holy Ghost testifies of all truth, and the feelings of truthfulness you have come from him. He gives us personal revelation, which everyone is entitled to.
I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know it, not just believe it.
Q: Has the Book Of Mormon had over 4,000 changes since the first edition in 1830 ?
I noticed a guy said this on here, so I would like to know if this is true, and if its not true what is the approximate real number of changes, or has there been no changes....... Because the foundation of the Mormon LDS religion is their belief that the Bible corrupted and needed the Book Of Mormon for assistance..... If there was truly thousands of changes to the BOM that would mean its not 100 % accurate as the Mormon public relations people say, correct?
A: Nothing about the Mormon faith is accurate. It is a religion created by a MAN who dabbled in witchcraft and stole people's wives and their money with the creation of a fake bank. Absurd to believe in it.
Q: What truth has sprung out of the Earth? (Psalms 85:11) All I can think of is the Book of Mormon?
Psalms 85:11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
The Book of Mormon came from buried plates with ancient scripture on them. If you don't believe that Psalms 85:11 is about the Book of Mormon, what is it talking about?
What truth has sprung out of the earth?
postmoderndan- It says it WILL spring forth... was there no plants when this prophecy was made or something?
the next jesus. jk-- So Jesus came out of the ground???
A: How about Daniel's rock that will roll forth and cover the earth? One million missionaries since 1830 is a start. The The Book of Mormon and the Bible are the only living books. They sell more each year than the last year. The Book of Mormon is printed in most languages and the missionaries teach in the language of the country.
To K; read about the three and eight witnesses of the Book of Mormon. (mormon . com). Church history makes it clear that psalms 85:11 is talking about the Book of Mormon (mormon.org).
Q: I am trying to find out where I can get a personalized Book of Mormon and Bible?
My father-in-law has these for all of his children, and now I want one for me and our to little kids. It's a Bible with the Book of Mormon, kind of like a 2-in-1 combo if you will.. And on the front bottom right of the book it has their name I guess engraved on it so they know it's theirs. They're very nice. If anyone knows where or how I might get one of these it would be greatly appreciated!
A: Go to Deseret Book or Ensign Book (or their websites). They'll have leather scriptures in various colors that can be engraved with names. You can get the full set of scriptures for $53, or you can go the cheaper way and just get a separate Bible and BOM. I couldn't find the price for engraving names, but I think it's only a few dollars extra.
http://deseretbook.com/store/category/7 for the full set.
Deseret book definitely ships. Not sure if Ensign book does, but it's a safe bet. Oh, and you can also go to lds.org and find the website for the distribution center. You can get the scriptures for cost plus the price of shipping, or you can find a center nearby through their webpage.
Q: why do you practice bapistism for the dead when the doctrine is not in the book of mormon?
I've read the book of mormon.
A: But, the doctrine is in the bible...
Not "everything" is contained in the Book of Mormon. We believe in continued revelation - remember? We also adhere to the Word of Wisdom, believe in the new & everlasting covenant of marriage, have the sacrament prayers, baptismal prayer, etc... those things are all in the Doctrine & Covenants.
The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince all men that Jesus is the Christ. It's purpose is not to "contain all" doctrine that will ever be or ever was.
We believe all that has been revealed, all that is now revealed and we believe there is yet to be revealed many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Q: Mormons: In this online summary of the BoM within the Book of Mormon, who are these modern Lamanites?
"CHAPTER 5
Mormon again leads the Nephite armies in battles of blood and carnage—The Book of Mormon shall come forth to convince all Israel that Jesus is the Christ—The Lamanites shall be a dark, filthy, and loathsome people—They shall receive the gospel from the Gentiles in the latter days. Between A.D. 375 and 384"
Who do you think these dark, filthy and loathsome people are? They may want to know!
http://scriptures.lds.org/en/morm/5
Indians? But they gave us Ghandi! He was AWESOME!
A: White and delightsome are the poorly fitting founders of the Mormon LDS faith.
The DNA mismatching the claims of their faulty doctrine kind of really has the ball rolling against that community of folks.
Joseph's Myth
Q: Joseph Smith translated the book of mormon with a rock in a hat. Why don't mormons practice this today?
I get this information from Mormon apostle Russel M Nelson, in the following article:
Elder Russell M. Nelson, A Treasured Testament, Ensign, July 1993, 61
So if Joseph Smith could really translate the Book of Mormon with a rock and a hat, why hasn't this practice continued to modern times?
A: The "rock" or Urim and Thumin, the tool that was used by Joseph Smith, is was received back by Moroni with the record. Both the record and the Urim and Thumim are not available to be used.
Q: Is the Bible translated more correctly than the Book Of Mormon ?
obviously the book of mormon was created in the belief that the Bible was not translated correctly, which even Mormon people won't debate...... but....... WHICH IS MORE ACCURATE ?
A: fyi Mike - The BoM was a record left by a people who left the area of the Bible, and recorded their happenings. It stands alone.
And I wonder - which 'version' of the bible is the correct translation according to you? LDS use the KJV - the same KJV as any other...but we do not accept the additions to God's word found in the ecumenicals and creeds.
Q: The importance of Alma in the Book of Mormon?
Can anyone summarize the chapter Alma in the Book of Mormon and its importance in the Book of Mormon, please?
A: The book of Alma in the Book of Mormon has several chapters. A few that stand out include Alma chapter five where the reader is harrassed with guilt-invoking questions like, are you humble enough? Have you kept the commandments enough? They're perfectly aligned with the Mormon philosphy of works to try to please God, the fruit of which is doubt as to your standing before God. Not what Paul had in mind if you've read Romans or Ephesians.
Alma 32 is another gem, especially if you've read the coercive influence literature. There the concept of desiring to believe is equated with a seed. It needs to be watered, nurtured, etc... The problem is, when someone wants to believe something, research shows that they eventually find evidence to support the belief. A person who desires to believe is easy prey to social proof, the idea that if enough people say it's true, and you want to believe it's true, you eventually feel that it is true.
Alma 36 is Paul's conversion story applied to Alma. It's interesting that in the Bible, God rarely does the same miracle twice. But here we see a strikingly similar pattern with Paul and Alma. Like all good writers, Smith borrowed the plot.
Hope that gives you a few ideas from the book of Alma, a book within the Book of Mormon.
Q: How much different is the book of mormon compared to the Bible?
i'm a christian as i've said before, and i ain't a Mormon (i'm baptist) anyway, i was wonderin how different is the book of mormon compared to the bible? b/c if mormon's go around here sayin that the book of mormin is a ''companion'' of the bible, they better hope it matches the bible word for word b/c the bible has no equal, but anyway if u know how much different the book of mormon is compared to the bible please post here. p.s. i didn't mean anything dissrespectful of the mormon relgion
A: I have spoken to many Mormons, many missionaries as well. I have studied there teaching. I even traveled to the heart of it in Salt Lake City Utah. Here are 2 things to think about:
-there is no archaeological evidence anywhere in America to back up any of the events in the bom. In contrast the biblical archaeology is phenomenal.
-a study was done on the Indians in America. Since the Mormons say that the Indians are really Jews a test was given on the dna of Indians across America and no Jewish dna was found only Asian. Mormons can not answer to this, only blind faith. Christians however have evidence since the bible is 27% prophecy and most has already been fulfilled except the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Dont let them fool you they are trained in schools to come off as Christians, and are doing a good job at it. The Mormons actually have some crazy teaching that they will become a god and have their own planet. CARM.ORG!
Q: Why is God sooo EVIL in the Book of Mormon?
Why is God sooo EVIL in the Book of Mormon?
A: God does not destroy--people do it to themselves with their disobediance and defiance.
If Heavenly Father needs to call people home, whether wicked or righteous, don't you think He has a purpose for doing so? Consider that this mortal life is a tiny tiny fraction of a second within eternity--what significance does this life have and why would it thus be a big deal to return to an immortal state?
I don't see where the BoM proves any excessive violence on the part of God--except for maybe the natural disasters that occur before the coming of the Messiah (which was promised as a result of the extreme wickedness of the people if they did not change their ways. )Other than that, it is warfare between people.
Q: Why won't I be saved if I believe that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins, but I believe in the Book of Mormon?
With the little differences, why would say a Roman Catholic condemn me, and say that Joseph Smith was a false prophet? I just started to pray to Elohim and I am reading 1 Nephi (the beginning of the Book of Mormon). I don't believe in original sin, Jesus atoned for all sins on the cross, so we are accountable for our own lives.
A: You will be saved.
That shows that you know Christs words and hear His voice. You will find the same gospel in the Book of Mormon that you did the bible and just as the New Testament gives more light on Jesus Christ and expands our understanding of the Old Testament, the Book of Mormon will expand your understanding of the bible.
In this way its not taking away but building your faith and enriching your knowledge about that same Jesus and the same gospel He preached.
The bible does warn against false prophets, yet that very warning denotes what's clearly prophesied - that there will be prophets in our day and there must be for the purposes of God to go forth.
How sad it is that people are afraid of reading and studying and knowing for themselves. The things they don't like about the Book of Mormon aren't normally things that are even in the Book of Mormon (most people focus on straw-man arguments citing things they object to that we LDS don't even believe). So the warnings I've seen from people on here about the Book of Mormon for the most part are obviously from those who have never read it and have learned fear from someone else about it and motivation from fear is an awful thing.
Enjoy reading, those first 17 chapters of Nephi show a lot about faith. I love the Isaiah chapters (it's an acquired taste but I love them) and the end of 2nd Nephi is inspiring.
I've read the Book of Mormon probably about 30 times, to this day I can't open it up and learn more from it.
There isn't a single page in it that doesn't help it's purpose be fulfilled "to convince Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God."
You'll find the Christ you already know in it, you won't loose any good faith you have, but missing pieces in your faith will be filled in and you'll come closer to your God.
If only everyone had the open heart that you do we would live in a more beautiful world.
EDIT: There is a comment below mine that reads "Remember, Jesus Himself warned us about false prophets. He said that there are no more prophets coming because He was the last one, He is the Son of God. Any one after Jesus that claims to be a prophet is a liar." I'd be interested in knowing if anyone had a reference to that since I've read the bible dozens of times including the part in the revelation that talks of the latter-day prophets, Daniel, Issiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel who discuss them as well as the words of Paul and Peter that point to the restoration.
Nothing ever states that there would be no prophets after Christ, if it did the entire New Testament would be rendered false since all of it came after Christ.
My dear, read the bible and don't define your faith by what someone tells you. You're responding to someone in the process of reading something first-hand to know what's in it; your response of quoting a scripture that not only doesn't exist but runs contrary to the prophecies of the bible will only reinforce the commitment of the one asking the question to study and read.
You can't fight someone seeking knowledge with hear-say which is not only false, but would render your church without basis for any claim to truth as it purports to be the only church with a literal continuation of apostolic keys meaning that the Catholic church has claimed for 2 millennium the gift of prophecy.
So whoever told you that is someone that isn't versed in your own church history nor the bible.
Q: Anyone know the name & lyrics to a song from the 1980s or 90s about Book of Mormon prophets?
Does anyone know the name of a song about Book of Mormon prophets Nephi, Moroni & Samuel? Some of the lyrics are: "Samuel, the Lamanite, stood upon the wall and preached to the Nephites in the town. He said the land would surely fall if the people didn't turn around."
A: "Book of Mormon stories"
It's on page 118 in the LDS Primary song book.
Here's a link where you can buy the book.

These are the first two versus
1. Book of Mormon stories that my teacher tells to me
Are about the Lamanites in ancient history.
Long ago their fathers came from far across the sea,
Giv’n the land if they lived righteously.
2. Samuel the Lamanite, high on the city wall,
Came to warn the people, and repentance was his call.
Arrows could not hit him, for a man of God was he,
And he taught in the land righteously.
Here are some other versus
Lamanites met others who were seeking liberty,
And the land soon welcomed all who wanted to be free.
Book of Mormon stories say that we must brothers be,
Giv’n the land if we live righteously.
Alma was rebellious, and he fought against the right.
Then one day an angel came to turn him to the light.
Struck before his brethren, Alma learned humility.
Then he taught in the land righteously.
Don’t forget Abinadi, who stood before the king.
All chained up from head to toe, the gospel he did bring.
If he would deny it, then the king would set him free.
He was true, and he died righteously.
Ammon was a missionary serving Lamanites,
Tending King Lamoni’s sheep for several days and nights.
Robbers came; he saved the sheep by fighting fearlessly.
He had learned he could live righteously.
Once two thousand sons of God were called to fight the foe.
Marching as an army into battle they did go.
They believed that Christ the Lord their guardian would be.
They had learned they should live righteously.
Boldly(Slowly and reverently)
After Christ was crucified and died for you and me,
He came forth to teach the truth to all who would be free.
Hands were laid upon each child. He blessed them tenderly,
And they lived in the land righteously.
Q: any funny scriptures in the bible or book of mormon?
i was just looking for funny scriptures like Genesis 27:11 or Alma 19:5 (book of mormon) so i was wondering if you knew any funny ones as well.
A: I remember some from Seminary class.
Smoking in the bible:
Genesis 24:64
....And she lighted off the camel
Food fight?
Zechariah 5:1
Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
That about the only two I remember that were funny.
