Q: bat mitzvah?
im having my bat mitzvah and i want mi theme to be dance...like when i have danced throughout my life like what to do with my old dance recital costumes and what to do with my old jazz shoes ballet shoes etc...pics are welcome! thak you!
A: well you could do center pieces with you different types of shoes. for example one table could be the ballet table, the other a jazz table.... or even theme by the dance pieces you have been in : one table nutcracker the other Chicago or something like that. and with some costumes you could put them up on a huge piece of cardboard (standing up) draw legs and arms (but no head) and have people take pictures with their heads on the piece of cardboard.

Q: What should I wear to my friends Bat Mitzvah?
I need to figure out what sort of dress i should wear to my friends bat mitzvah. I have pale skin, dark blond hair, blue eyes, am almost 5' and I weigh about 80 pounds if that helps. Thanks!
A: Bat Mitzvahs are very elegant parties. I recommend a cute party dress. You could buy a a bubble-skirt dress that has no sleeves. I would get a knee-high or above cut dress. Get a string of pearls or chunky necklace to go with on of the colors on the dress, and a cut flat or low heel would be appropriate. They always sell really cute dresses at Dillard's, try that.

Q: What do you give your friend for a bat mitzvah gift?
One of my friends is having her bat mitzvah on the 14th and being a christan i have no clue what to give her should i give her money or an actual gift and if i give her an actual gift what type of present should i give her??? HELP

Q: How should I organize my bat mitzvah at Disneyland?
I am thinking of holding my bat mitzvah at disneyland, a whole weekend thing because i live in San Diego. Is there a place where I can hold my party in the park? And should I reserve a whole floor in the hotel for my guests in the weekend? I have aprox 80, which can change..
A: Wow, what a cool idea!!! The only problem might be keeping all your friends from getting lost (or worse) in such a crowded place. Is your mom helping you plan this? About the hotel- You just let the hotel know that you're having an event and they'll give your guests a special rate when they call that hotel and mention that they are with your bat-mitzvah party. I planned a bat Mitzvah for our daughter almost 8 years ago and it takes A LOT of planning and good nerves. Mazel Tov and good luck to you! :0)
Q: How much money should you give as a bat mitzvah gift and can you wear the same dress to different bat mitzvahs
Hi, I'm going to my first bat mitzvah soon and I dont know how much money is appropiate. I know that multiples of 18 are lucky but I don't want to spend a lot. Would it be ok to give 36 dollars and a gift? Should it be in cash or check?
Also, I have been invited to a few more in the same month. I was wondering if it would be ok to wear the same dress to the different bat mitzvahs?

A: Hi there.
There is no rule that says you must give money to a bat mitzvah.
The number 18 is "chai" which in Hebrew also means "life." This is why chai or multiples thereof can be very popular gifts.
If you want to give a meaningful gift, try making a contribution to a Jewish charity. Or a book on a Jewish subject.
And yes, absolutely you can wear the same dress to all occasions.
Q: Is it tacky to wear the same outfit to a morning Bat Mitzvah ceremony and the evening party?
My friend's Bat Mitzvah is coming up. My Jewish cousin told me it wasn't tacky, but I'm not sure if she's the best authority. Should I wear a more formal dress to the ceremony and then my pretty dancing dress to the party? Or should I wear the same dress to both?
A: It wouldn't be too tacky wearing the same dress to the service and party except that if your dress is like really short or strapless or something you might want to think about wearing a longer more formal dress to the service than a party dress... it is more appropriate and I would know because I am also Jewish.

A: What about an Around the World in 80 Days theme? You can do exotic country table themes and have tons of fun food choices.

Its not that it's with guys. I'm nervous around guys and i'm not a very good dancer.
A: Most Bar and Bat Mitzvahs have a variety of games for the young teens to play, rather than dancing. There may be some dancing, but it will usually be targeted more at the adults than at the teens.
Remember that most of the younger folks at the party will be of one sex (male friends at a Bar Mitzvah and female friends at a Bat Mitzvah) and will mostly be 12 and 13 year olds--ages where most folks aren't too good at dancing.
In short, you can relax.
I would disregard the "Poland Springs" comment unless the poster comes back to explain what they mean.
