Q: I'm looking to start up a Christian bookstore. Where might I find funding?
We do not have one in my town and the nearest one is about 30 to 35 minutes from our town. I'd like to find funding. Can anyone help guide me where I might find the funding?
A: A good idea might me to ask your local churches if they could donate or perhaps offer you loans. You could go to each one with your plan and let them know what a benefit this store would be to the people in the church's ministry! Sounds like a good idea, work on your business plan as I doubt funding will be available through other means with the current financial crisis. Bad times draw people to god, so this might be a good move. Good luck and hope it helps!
Q: christian bookstore and records in Boston?
where can i find and but the complete christian books and records, like cross movement records? near the T station will be great.
A: Many Barnes & Noble stores carry Cross Movement as well as many Christian books. There is a store at the Prudential Center. You could call in advance to see if they have the music you want.

Plan to spend a great deal of time. They have the most wonderful selection of books, including religious. Don't forget to check out the huge bargain book area to the left of the main entrance.
While it is not next to a T station, you can take the bus.
Q: Would it work for me to sell a lot of my christian books to a christian bookstore?
some books that i have are brand new
burn them hahahaha
A: You could donate them to a church library.
Or burn them (preferably).
Q: Do they sell neon bibles at the christian bookstore?
A: What! You must be living in the USA. Whatever happens there usually gets to us in the UK ten years later.
Q: What would you have done if you were in this Christian bookstore...?
"Praise Jesus! I was visiting a Chrisitian bookstore this afternoon, when all of a sudden I heard it! I heard the mighty trumpet of Jesus, blowing loud and hard, calling all Christians home. It was as if I had been struck by lightning! I dropped the book I was perusing, stood stock still with my arms pointed skyward and said "YES LORD!". The shopkeep and the two other people in the shop looked at me as if I was insane. Turns out they knew something I didn't. The 1:45 fright train crosses the road every day at that time, and usually blows it's whistle when it's going through the intersection. I was sooo embarassed! But hey, at least I know I'll be ready when the real one comes! I'd rather be a bit embarrassed than unsaved!! "

If you don't understand it, I didn't say this.. I read it online.
"EDIT: your profile says you are an athiest... get a life like seriously"
i AM an atheist. Again, I did not say this. There is a reason I used quotes..

That guy needs help.
Q: I have been asked to help manage a bookstore.I need info on how to run one. I have knowledge in rental bus.?
I have experience in managing a rental store called rent-a-center for 4 1/2 years. I'm very interested but need to find some detail information about running and manageing a christian bookstore.
A: Go find out from a source. Ask another book store manager in another town if you can shadow them for a day.
Q: If I take my Bok Of Mormon to a Christian bookstore, will they put the gold foil lettering on it?
Its leather and I want "Angelica Luigi Bowman: CTR" Will they do it?
Book* excuse me. LOL.
I AM kind of afraid i won't get it back....
A: haha. Well, idk about just any Christian bookstore. They might just kick you and burn the book. Wouldn't want that happening now..........lol Take it to one of the Church's bookstores. usually there is one near the temple, if not elsewhere.
Q: i was passing a christian bookstore one day and i saw a tee shirt in the display window.....?
it was george dubya hanging from a cross with his head lowered like he's some kind of martyr or something. this is for real. i am not making this up people. does this outrage anyone else?
im glad to see im not the only one pissed about this. and yes. it was GWB for sure. he was in a suit for god sake and you could still see alot of his face
A: What ever he is, he's not a matyr. He made his decisions, and he will accept the consequences.
Q: How can I open a bookstore locally.?
I have no money, could get some loans. Can't find a decent bookstore that does franchises. Anyone have any ideas?
My area has no non-christian local bookstore within about 20 miles, and I think with the recent growth it would generate money quickly.
A: Bookstores are not very profitable these days, I mean not many people read, nor do they go into the store to buy books anymore. But I suggest you try making it into a sort of hangout type place, get some GoodWill style-cushy chairs in the corners, and serve coffee with cookies. You could probably just buy a coffee pot and make cookies, I'm not sure about the health code laws, which you should know. But I mean, it's all about the angle, maybe get some kids involved from a local high school to set up hours for tutoring or something if the library hasn't already cornered that? I'm sure you could do it, but you need a niche, some way that sets your store out from all the cheap Internet sites, and competing book stores.
-Good luck-
Q: Why have Christian bookstores quit selling Gospel music on phonograph records ?
A: Welcome to the 21st century. Do you still have an eight track player?
Q: Where can I get a THIN amplified Bible? I Googled it and checked my local Christian bookstore, but I've only
found the thin AMP New Testament so far. I'd prefer the entire Bible. Thanks.
A: Gonna be hard as the AMP has so many added words to try to explain the sense of some passages. It's like a thesaurus was used in the translation.
Q: I have written Teen Christian Fiction series. I would like to get it into Christian bookstores across the US.
I have written a series of three books that are part of a 12-part series of Christian fiction for late teens and young adults. Readers who have read the Chronicles of Narnia and the Left Behind series will enjoy. The reading is a little more difficult than the Narnia Chronicles and a little lighter and less obviously Christian than the Left Behind books. I would like to know how to get these into Christian bookstores.

A: After printing out the pages, put it away from at least 6 weeks, the bare minimum. After that, read it through without making any changes or marks. How does it sound to you? Then, take a red pen and go crazy, making little margin notes, crossing out words, etc. Look for grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc.
Buy a copy of Writer's Market and look for agent listings. When you've found one suitable, send out a query letter based on their guidelines. If they want to see the rest fo their book, either send it via email or snail mail, depending on the agency. If they agree to represent you, you are ahead of the ballgame.
Now look in Writer's Market for publishers suitable to your genre. Send out a query-or not, some do not want them- specified to their guidelines. Wait 6 weeks to 2 months for a response. If, in the end, you're book will be published, the editor will suggest changes, and I recommend you listen, these guys know what they're talking about. Expect 6 months to a year and a half for it to hit the shelves.
But expect rejection. Every writer has gotten it, you just need to eat it for breakfast and move on.

Q: What is a good secular movie with a christian message?
I lead a youth group for my church and we have a movie night every month. We've already done Narnia and Lord of the Rings. What is another good secular type movie that has a christian message or christian values, that is not labeled as a "religious" movie, such as you would find at a christian bookstore.
A: I know this is a Christian movie, but Facing the Giants is done much like a typical hollywood style secular movie (it isn't cheesy, amateur, or blatant in hitting you over the head with the Gospel) and it is awesome!!
And you can get it at Blockbuster!
