Q: Christian bible, Are we exposed to follow the old testament ?
Christian bible, Are we exposed to read the old testament?
Christian bible, Are we exposed to follow the old testament ?
A: Yes we are definitely supposed to read the old testament, but we are not supposed to follow cultural guidelines.
Plus because Jesus rendered animal sacrifices and most of the laws in the new testament no longer needed, we are supposed to follow the New Covenant, not the Abrahamic Covenant.
Q: Have you ever know that Christian Bible does not reject other Religion?
In LUKE 16:13 the Bible states "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and MONEY". Hope this will clarify tolerance to other religions. Person who are real Christian will and should understand the meaning of this wonderful verse.
A: It is time for Christianity to accept the existence and reality in other religions that expound the truths. Yes, 2000 years ago, it was difficult for the writers/scholars of the Bible to appreciate the immense teachings of other religions like Buddhism and Taoism even though they were already in existence well before Christianity. Today, the modern communication channels like the internet has given the modern writers a chance to appreciate and understand the teachings and allow them to see the truths from other angles. By conforming "Christ is the only way" and rejecting others, Christians themselves will be the ones to be deprived from the wisdom, knowledge from other sources for the betterment of their faith.
Q: Why does the president have to swear on the bible & recite so help me god if being christian is not necesary?
being a christian is not a prerequisite for the presidency (though some people think so). So why the swearing in w/hand on christian bible, and reciting "so help me god" a part of the inauguration?
A: Constitution doesn't require Presidents or other federal officials to place their hand on the Bible or say the words "so help me God." Quite the contrary, those sections of the Constitution that deal with oaths of office are completely secular in content and, as such, constitute evidence that the framers intended separation.
The Presidential oath of office is described in Article II, section 1 of the Constitution:
Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Nothing in this section requires that the oath of office be taken on the Bible.
Q: Would Gandhi be in hell now in Christian bible?
Does the Bible say that people like gandhi and any other good non-christian figures would go to hell? If so, is there a specific verse for it?
A: Jesus' message was 'follow me' and 'be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect.' His 'way' was his example, which Gandhi followed. However, Christianity, which has very little to do with Jesus and everything to do with the perverted ideas of Paul and the early church, has a very, very low opinion of "God" as a sadistic tyrant - as do some of the Christians who answered here.
Q: Why does the New American Bible and many other Christian Bibles start off with?
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth..."
But in the torah, it says that YHVH created the heaven and earth.."
I've always tried to figure out what the plural heavens referred to and now I just found out that the Hebrew bible says a singular heaven.
Why the mistranslation? Anyone know this?
A: You are mistaken on both. Gen. 1:1 in transliterated Hebrew says
B'reshit bara Elohim et hashamayim v'et ha'aretz.
בראשית ברא אלוהים את השמים ואת הארץ
So it says Elohim (God) not YHVH. As for singular or plural heaven, the Hebrew word for heaven has no singular form. There are a number of nouns in Hebrew that have no singular form. These include heaven, water, life and face. These are always plural, even when only one is being spoken of.
So these are not mistranslations.
Q: Where can I get a Christian Bible?
I want the bible that's in a English that I can understand, not the Elizabethan english.
I want the most common Christian bible, the most popular one.
A: It is hard for me to understand the wording in the King James version so I use the NIV(New International Version)and my Pastor also uses this Bible,it is very easy to understand. My husband prefers the King James. My son also uses the NIV.Go to a christian bookstore and read some of them and see which you like the best. Also which ever one you choose if you make sure it is a study Bible it will help you understand even better.God Bless.
Q: How many versions of the Christian Bible exist?
How many versions exist just in the English language? And how many versions exist in the entire world? Which is one closest to the truth?
A: Too many. And they contradict each other and the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
Best bet? Do what I did: learn the original languages, and read it for yourself.
Q: What is the procedure for getting verses deleted from the Christian Bible?
There's a lot of embarrassing stuff in there, it really needs an update.
A: Most protestant Bibles printed since the 1880s have excluded the Apocrypha. (Catholic Bibles still include it, so did Protestant Bibles until the late Nineteenth Century).
It is only the Word of God if you agree with it.
Q: Was the Fall of Man written about in the Christian Bible really a fall?
The Quran gives a different interpretation of the same story. What is your understanding on the subject as this understanding forms the foundation for the answer to "Why are we here".
Thank you for answering!
Blessings!
A: Man never fell, but a mist came into "view" and is believed right now. The mist never touches God's creation, but we view everything as though it has power to recreate perfection in an imperfect state called earth.
Q: Where can i find a good Christian Bible Study Free online?

Stay away from all things Jehovah's Witness.
Q: what are the verses in the Bible that say that a saved christian who keeps on sinning will get into heaven but?
just barely and it will be like as if he was going through fire...
meaning that his life would be very difficult obviously because he keeps on disobeying God...anyway I need the Book and Verse i know it's in the new testament (this is the Christian Bible...like King James, NIV or NLT or NAS, NKJ, etc..)
A: Well, 1 Corinthians 3 is probably what you are talking about.
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
It's an important message for these days!
Think about it, who builds their apparent righteousness upon their ability to notice what a sinner looks like? You know, as if straight people were so sinless?
And who is going around telling people God hates fags? Or God hates America? Those people have built on sand, and some of them might be saved, but God has provided the foundation. They think of themselves as being righteous, just because they might not be Gay.

Q: Why does the Christian bible contain the old testament?
If you want to discuss the old testament, all you get is "Ask the Israelites about this verse, it was addressed to them.."
If its irrelevant to Christians, why is it in the bible?
Is it really irrelevant??
A: The new testament is pretty irrelevant too.
Q: Christian bible readers, did the Israelite Leader's and Kings ever talked about satan?
I am thinking about the Old Testament and I can't remember if the Israelite Leader's or Kings (like Moses and King David, etc...) ever mentioned satan. Was it forbidden for them to talk about the evil one?
A: the book of job has satan debating with god in seen also zechariah has him acusing the high priest before the lord, daniel refers to him a lot and talks of the angels opposing each other. Moses tells of him in the garden in genisis. in chronicles satan put it in davids heart to number the people.many times he is referred to by other names, bealzabub , prince of the power of the air, the wicked one...
Q: How do I read the Christian Bible for the the first time?
I was thinking about starting with the Book of Mark. Any other ideas?
A: Just read the New Testament from the beginning. You could actually start with Matthew then go to Romans and the books of John. Those are the most informative books. The Old Testament is really for the Jews and people following the old law.
